15 trade unions in the power sector have reached a decision to stage a protest opposite the head office of the Ceylon Electricity Board at noon today.
The Ceylon Electricity Board Technological Engineers and Superintendent Union said the trade union action was organised to protest against the arbitrary actions of the management.
Speaking to NewsRadio, the Editor of the Union, Nandana Udayakumara said over 25,000 CEB employees island wide are expected to take part in the trade union action.
Udayakumara said they will be compelled to intensify their trade union action in the future if a proper solution isn’t presented in the face of today’s strike.
He said all non-essential staff will engage in the sick note campaign leaving the most essential individuals required to ensure continuous supply of power at power plants, field offices and offices.
