13-hour power cuts will be imposed in several areas across the island today (31).

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka said it approved a request by the Ceylon Electricity Board to increase the power cut duration to 13 hours due to the unavailability of fuel for thermal power plants and the decrease in hydropower generation.

Accordingly, areas A, B, C, D, E and F will experience three-hour power cuts from 3am to 6am, four-hour power disruptions from 12pm to 4pm and six-hour power cuts from 6pm to 12am.

Areas G, H, I, J, K and L will experience three-hour power cuts from 12am to 3am, four-hour power disruptions from 8am to 12pm and six-hour power cuts from 4pm to 10pm.

Furthermore, the PUCSL said areas P, Q, R and S will have three-hour power cuts between 3am and 6am, four-hour power disruptions from 12pm to 4pm and six-hour power cuts from 6pm to 12am.

Areas T, U, V and W will meanwhile have three-hour power cuts from 12am to 3am, four-hour power disruptions from 8am to 12pm and six-hour power cuts from 4pm to 10pm.

The PUCSL added that areas M, N, O, X, Y and Z will experience three-hour-and-30-minute power cuts from 5.30am to 9am and two hours from 4pm to 6pm.
