A meeting between representatives of the 11 independent political parties of the government and the Sri Lanka Bar Association concluded today.
Speaking to NewsRadio Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara said talks were successful and mainly focused on forming an interim government.
The Parliamentarian said the groups hoped to continue talks in future. MP Jayasekara said the BASL has also presented a few proposals regarding an interim government concept, which was proposed by the SLFP.
He said they had lengthy talks on addressing the people’s grievances and stabilising the economy.
MP Jayasekara also noted that the group spoke on practical issues of the 19st Amendment to the constitution, which will be changed in the 21st Amendment.
He said the party will push the effort to implement an all party interim government.
In the midst of this environment, #SriLanka is closely edging towards the formation of an interim government. This is the first step towards establishing political and economic stability.
