A collective of professionals, and a group of professionals and youth involved in the people’s struggle have submitted a proposal to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa that contains measures to be taken to resolve the current political and economic crisis.
During the discussion, the two parties focused on short, medium, and long-term measures to address the current political, social, and economic crisis and the adoption of a people-friendly Constitution.
A decision was reached to hold another round of discussions after the 11-point proposal is examined.
The President said several groups from various fields are prepared to support efforts to uplift the country adding he is prepared to provide the necessary power and resources required to implement positive proposals.
The professionals said a development programme with specific objectives must be provided to all Ministries annually adding that steps must be taken to review the progress on a quarterly basis.
The proposals call for the removal of Ministers and officials who fail to meet set targets by the end of the year.
