The ‘100,000 Projects’ rural development programme as part of the 2022 Budget proposal commenced a short while ago.
This is part of the ‘Gama Samanga Pilisandarak’ programme.
The programme is being implemented with allocations made through the 2022 Budget and aims to support sustainable development of an enhanced manufacturing economy.
The programme covers all 14,021 Grama Niladhari Divisions of the 336 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the country.
The programme commenced in a number of locations at 8.52am today and will see five to six projects initiated in every Grama Niladhari Division.
Today’s events were launched under the patronage of Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa.
Speaking during the event, Minister Rajapaksa said the programme is being implemented with the participation of all Divisional Coordinating Committees, Secretaries, Divisional Secretaries, Planning Directors, public representatives and other divisional level and rural level officials.
The Minister said they undertook this programme as a challenge to complete within 12 months.
