Sri Lanka Railways says 10 railway stations have been closed due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation.
Accordingly the Hettimulla, Induruwa, Kalutara North, Egoda Uyana, Talpe and Rathgama railway stations along the coastal line and Bulugahagoda, Wilwatta and Bemmulla along the main line have been closed.
The Gammana railway station along the Kelani Valley line has also been closed.
Additionally the ELS railway yard in Maradana and the PCS railway yard in Dematagoda have been temporarily closed.
360 employees attached to Sri Lanka Railways had contracted COVID-19 as of yesterday, 119 of them are employees of the Transport Sub-Department.
Meanwhile a 59-year-old railway employee attached to the Chief Mechanical Engineer’s Sub Department in Ratmalana has succumbed to the virus on Tuesday, after receiving treatment for 18 days.
