A manifesto, ‘මුළු රටම හරි මගට’, compiled by 11 political parties representing the government will be unveiled today.
The event will begin at 3pm at a function hall in Sri Jayawardenapura, Kotte.
The manifesto was compiled by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the National Freedom Front, the Democratic Left Front, the Lanka Sama Samaja Party, the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, the National Congress, the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, the Sri Lanka People’s Party, Vijaya Dharani National Council, the People’s United Front, and the Yuthukama National Organisation.
The parties claim the country is currently experiencing the results of the worst recession in the open economic development model.
They are of the view that amidst the prevalent crisis, an economic model must be created that will strengthen the foundations of the economy in the short term, provide economic opportunities to a majority, and ensure social justice.
Accordingly, the 11 political parties representing the government claim the manifesto is being tabled during this challenging period in a bid to overcome the present crisis.
