The Association of Health Professionals says although the Medical Research Institute revealed last week that three individuals had contracted the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, the information has not been confirmed on international databases yet.
Speaking to NewsRadio, President of the Association Ravi Kumudesh said the Ministry of Health must pay immediate attention to the matter.
He said the Association has been monitoring the situation continuously, claiming this could arise owing to the lack of recognition of standards of the laboratory.
Kumudesh said conducting testing with the laboratory of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, that has long term recognition, will prove to be more fruitful.
He added the Health Ministry reaching decisions based on personal disputes has raised numerous concerns.
