State Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama says licenses of buses transporting passengers exceeding the seating capacity will be impounded from tomorrow.
State Minister Amunugama said all inter-provincial bus and train services will resume from tomorrow.
Accordingly, 6,000 Sri Lanka Transport Board buses will be in operation from tomorrow.
The State Minister said 152 office trains will be in operation from tomorrow while long distance trains will be operational from the 5th of November.
He said permission has been granted for SLTB and private buses to operate within and across provinces.
State Minister Amunugama requested private bus operators to resume operations irrespective of any issues faced.
The State Minister said permission from health authorities was received under the assurance that seating capacities will be strictly adhered to with Police monitoring.
He said health authorities could suspend public transport if bus operators violate seating capacities.
He said Police will take legal actions under the quarantine ordinance against such bus drivers and conductors if the regulation is violated.
