COLOMBO (NewsRadio); A letter from Chinese President Xi Jinping has been handed over to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The letter from General Secretary of the Communist Party Central Committee and President of China Jinping was handed over to President Wickremesinghe by visiting International Department Vice Minister Chen Zhou today.
The visiting Vice Minister Chen Zhou called on the President this evening in Colombo.
The Chinese Embassy in Colombo said two parties held friendly and fruitful discussions on how to enhance Sri Lanka-China bilateral pragmatic cooperation and party-to-party exchanges.
The Embassy said President Wickremesinghe said he is looking forward to China’s support in restructuring Sri Lanka’s debt and strengthen the economy.
The high-level delegation of the Communist Party of China led by International Department Vice Minister Chen Zhou arrived in the island earlier today.
The Chinese delegation will remain in the island till the 18 of January. The Chinese Embassy said this is the first official visit of the Communist Party of China to Sri Lanka in 2023, after its 20th National Congress.
The Embassy said the CPC delegation is scheduled to meet government leaders and political party representatives.
A briefing will also be hosted on the 20th CPC National Congress, to promote bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and India and inter-parties exchanges.
