(NewsRadio); A Sri Lankan has been sentenced to 22 years in jail after being found guilty of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl in Mandapam, Tamil Nadu.
The Mahila Court in Ramanathapuram also imposed a fine of INR 5,000 on the Sri Lankan man.
The convict, aged 52 who was living alone in a house at a Rehabilitation Camp at Mandapam, Tamil Nadu had lured the girl to his house and sexually abused her in January 2022.
Based on a complaint filed by the relatives of the victim, Police arrested him and filed a case.
The Hindu reported that the court had ordered that the convict should be punished for six more months in the event of failure to remit the fine and had requested the Tamil Nadu government to consider a compensation of INR 500,000 to the victim.
