Three Sri Lanka athletes will be in action today at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
One of the medal hopefuls Dinesh Priyantha Herath will be in action in the Men’s Javelin Throw – F46 Final this morning.
The event will get underway at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo at 7.33am Sri Lanka time.
Meanwhile, Dulan Kodithuwakku and Chaminda Sampath Hettiarachchi will feature in the Men’s Javelin Throw – F64 finals.
The duo will commence their pursuit for Olympic glory when the event gets underway at 3.30pm at the Olympic Stadium.
Sri Lankan stars have yet to make a mark at the 2020 Paralympic Games but athletes are expected to make a strong show today.
Sampath Bandara finished 23rd in the Archery Men’s Individual Recurve – Open ranking event at the 2020 Paralympic while Rowing champion Mahesh Jayakodi finished last in the PR1 Men’s Single Sculls event.
Meanwhile, China continues to top the Medals Standings at the Tokyo Paralympic Games with 46 gold medals.
China has also secured 29 silver and 29 bronze medals for a tally of 104.
Great Britain has 23 gold, 19 silver and 18 bronze medals and is placed second while the United States is placed third in the standings with 15 gold medals, 16 silver and eight bronze medals.
A total of 69 countries have won at least one medal thus far at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
