COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Level 1 landslide warnings have been issued to residents of several areas in two districts.
Warnings issued by the National Building Research Organisation will be in effect till 5.30pm tomorrow.
Accordingly, landslide warnings will be in effect in the Haldummulla Divisional Secretariat area of the Badulla district and the Ratnapura, Elapatha and Nivithigala Divisional Secretariat areas of the Ratnapura district till 5.30pm tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology predicts showers or thundershowers at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva, Central, North-western and North-central provinces and in the Mannar district this evening.
Fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely at some places.
Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
