Batsman Kusal Mendis has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the upcoming Australia-Sri Lanka Twenty20 International series.
Mendis is part of the Sri Lanka squad preparing for the five-match T20 series which begins on Friday.
Speaking during the pre-series media briefing, Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka confirmed that Mendis returned positive for COVID-19 during a routine Rapid Antigen Test.
Dinesh Chandimal is expected to take up wicket-keeping duties in the absence of Mendis.
A 20-member Sri Lankan squad is in Australia. Several other members of the squad also tested positive for COVID-19 in recent weeks.
The squad, led by Shanaka will begin the series in Sydney on Friday.
The first two matches will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the third at the Manuka Oval and the last two at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
