The Gampaha Magistrate’s Court has ordered Dilhani Hathurusinghe alias ‘Kudu Asha’ to be remanded for 14 days, for using money obtained via the sale of drugs to purchase assets.
Police said she was arrested for using money earned illegally by deceased drug dealer Chaminda Edirisuriya alias ‘Chamiya’ to purchase land.
The Police Illegal Assets Investigation Division arrested the 46-year-old woman yesterday after investigations revealed her to be his mistress.
‘Chamiya’ was also a suspect in the case where shots were fired at a prison bus in Kalutara.
The suspect had used Rs.50 million to purchase shop units and also transferred close to Rs.23 million in funds via her bank account during the past two years.
The Illegal Assets Investigation Division will conduct further investigations on the matter.
