A stock of medicines and medical equipment worth Rs.430 million, essential to the country’s health system has been donated to the Ministry of Health by the Korean government and its people.
The donation collected by a Korean organization, The Global Life Sharing Institute, with the coordination and support of the World Unreached People Mission Organization, was handed over to Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella today (17) by the Sri Lankan Director of the institutions Pastor A Francis.
The first donation of Rs.430 million included medicines related to eye diseases, bacterial infections, skin diseases, antibiotics and painkillers.
Minister Rambukwella said international organizations and institutions have extended support to Sri Lanka’s health system during the COVID-19 pandemic and amidst the current economic crisis while the country continues to receive support.
The Minister also expressed his gratitude to the people of Korea and the World Unreached People Mission for the contribution.
Pastor Francis meanwhile said in future, under this programme, essential equipment and medicines will be provided to schools and hospitals.
