COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella has called for a Parliamentary debate on the current situation in the country.

Parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella requested the Speaker to intervene and allocate time for a debate on the country’s situation.

He said the Speaker should call for a party leaders’ meeting and decide on the matter.

Speaker of House Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena consented to the request and said he will call for a party leaders’ meeting and a decision can be made during the meeting.

Parliament convened at 9.30am today.
