The Tamil Nadu has reportedly uncovered that more than 100 Sri Lankan nationals have reached the state through the Thoothukudi coast, following the arrest and interrogation of a suspect in an illegal immigration racket.
The suspect has said that the Lankans arrived in five batches to Thoothukudi and that the arrival was in country-made boats.
Most of those who have reached Tamil Nadu had moved on to Mangaluru in Karnataka to travel to another country.
The individuals, who was arrested on Saturday, is considered as the main person instrumental in facilitating the illegal immigration of Sri Lankans into India through the Thoothukudi route.
Meanwhile, a Sri Lankan national has been arrested in Kerala after the Coast Guard and the NIA unearthed 30 billion Indian Rupees worth of drugs from a Sri Lankan vessel in the sea.
Six Sri Lankan nationals were arrested and they were also carrying five AK 47 assault rifles and 90 bullets.
