Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella says the President will take the necessary steps with powers vested with him through the Constitution, if there is a need for a Cabinet reshuffle.
Speaking to media in Kandy the Minister said Ministers don’t have to be aware of the reshuffle.
He said the President and the Prime Minister are vested with powers to reach the relevant decisions through the Constitution.
Minister Rambukwella noted the Head of State will hold discussions with the Prime Minister in this regard and take necessary steps.
When inquired on whether Minister Rambukwella will receive a new Ministerial portfolio following the reshuffle, the Minister said he will continue to carry out duties allocated to him to the best of his ability, till the end of his term.
Responding to claims raised by various factions over the health sector being politicised, Minister Rambukwella said he has the right to intervene and resolve issues within the health sector, as the subject Minister.
He reiterated that a Minister must intervene and hold discussions to resolve issues when the need arises.
