COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Kandy Falcons extended their winning run by defeating Dambulla Aura by 39 runs in the 18th match of the 2022 Lanka Premier League tournament in Colombo.

Chasing a 161-run target to keep their qualification hopes alive in the tournament, the Dambulla Aura could muster only 121/9 in their allotted 20 overs at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

The loss has all but ended their chances of qualifying for the next stage of the tournament.

Only, Sikandar Raza scored 45 off 33 deliveries while the rest of the batters faltered cheaply.

Dilum Sudeera at the latter part of the chase scored an unbeaten 21.

For Kandy, Oshane Thomas picked up 3/15 while Fabian Allen and Chamindu Wijesinghe chipped in with two wickets apiece.

Earlier after opting to bat first, Kandy posted a respectable 160/7 in their 20 overs.

Ashen Bandara top scored with 37 while Kavin Bandara hit a quick-fire 27.

For Dambulla, Matthew Forde, Dilum Sudeera and Kalana Perera picked up two wickets apiece. ‘

Kandy will now meet Jaffna Kings in the Qualifier 1 of the tournament on Wednesday at the same venue.
