Jayantha Ketagoda has been sworn-in as a Member of Parliament once again.
He took oaths before Speaker of House Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena this morning.
Ketagoda was re-appointed as a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National List MP following the resignation of Ajith Nivard Cabraal last week.
Ajith Nivard Cabraal tendered his resignation last Monday and was later appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank.
Secretary General of Parliament Dammika Dassanayake this morning presented the letter of resignation of Ajith Nivard Cabraal before the house.
Ketagoda who entered Parliament through the SLPP National List after the 2020 General Election resigned as a MP in July, paving way for Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa to enter Parliament.
Although Jayantha Ketagoda was tipped to receive an Ambassadorial post, he remained in the country after stepping down from Parliament.
Jayantha Ketagoda, an alumnus of Lumbini College, Colombo, also holds a diploma in cinema and television from the University of the Visual & Performing Arts.
Representing the United National Party in 1991, he was appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in the Kaduwela Pradeshiya Sabha and also elected to the Western Provincial
Council in 1999.
Elected to Parliament for the first time in 2000, Jayantha Ketagoda has been sworn in as a Member of Parliament on five occasions including today.
