33-year-old all-rounder Isuru Udana has announcement his retirement from national duties.
Udana made his international debut in 2009 and last represented Sri Lanka during the recently concluded India series.
Sri Lanka Cricket in a statement said Udana announced his retirement from national duties, with immediate effect.
Whilst notifying his decision to SLC, he said “I believe the time has come for me to make way for the next generation of players, It is with immense pride and passion, and unfathomable commitment that I have represented and served my country.”
Udana represented Sri Lanka in 21 One Day Internationals and 35 Twenty20 Internationals and known for his left arm swing bowling and explosive hitting down the order.
He has also featured in several international Twenty20 Leagues including in the Indian Premier League last representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Udana’s retirement is among the several high profile recent requirements from the national set-up in recent months which included all-rounder Thisara Perera.
Several other national stars also left Sri Lanka to ply their trade in the United States and Australia in recent months.
