Isipathana College Colombo has been crowned the 2022 Inter School A-Division Club Rugby Champions after beating Royal College Colombo by 21-15 in a league encounter at Havelock Park this evening.
In the league decider, Isipathana scored their points through a goal, a try and three decisive penalties while Royal secured their points through a goal, a try and a penalty.
Defending Champions Royal led 10-06 at lemons.
Isipathana led by Dahan Wickramarachchi was impressive throughout the tournament and remained unbeaten to end the reign of Royalists as the domestic school champions.
The win also helped the Park Club school to secure the Major Milroy Fernando.
Royal who were the favorites to win the League at the start of the season also lost to Trinity College Kandy 20-21 during the group stage.
The Royalists will next meet their traditional rivals Trinity College Kandy in the first leg of the Bradby Shield next week.
The first leg of the Bradby will be worked-off at the Royal Complex on Saturday, the 20th of August.
The second leg of the Bradby is scheduled to be played at the Trinity Collège Rugby Stadium in Pallekele on the 3rd of September.
Trinity lead the Bradby tally 39-34 but the Royalist have retained the Shield since 2017.
Bradby Shield encounters did not take place in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
So, both teams will be eager to showcase their talents during the blue-ribbon event of the local rugby calendar.
