The Health Professionals Association says the country will face a major crisis as a result of new COVID-19 regulations introduced by health experts, citing examples of various developed and powerful nations.
The Association said the decision to allow tourists to enter the country without being subject to PCR tests is one such decision.
Speaking during a media briefing, President of the Association Ravi Kumudesh said various experts are taking arbitrary decisions based on their own personal agenda.
He added however the decision to allow arrivals to enter the country without undergoing PCR tests will not be favourable to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Kumudesh said experts have cited England as an example to support their decision, adding that England removed India from the Red List, and imposed separate conditions for Indians.
He added England has studied all other countries, before relaxing rules and is aware about the COVID situation in Sri Lanka and other nations.
Kumudesh stated England has categorized all countries to Red, Amber and Green zones, adding however Sri Lanka has not conducted such a research.
He added Sri Lanka has no such categorization, and have now exposed the country and the people by taking nations such an England and India as an example.
