Day two of the debate on the second reading of the 2021 Appropriation (Amendment) Bill is scheduled to get underway in Parliament this morning.
Parliament is due to convene at 9.30 while the Budget debate will continue until 5.30pm.

The debate on the second reading of the 2021 Appropriation (Amendment) Bill presented by the President got underway yesterday.
Debate on the 2022 interim budget will continue for the third day tomorrow and the Bill is scheduled to be passed after the committee stage.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe meanwhile pledged to build a new economy for Sri Lanka through the 2023 Budget.
Delivering the 2022 interim budget in Parliament on Tuesday (30), President Wickremesinghe said the proposals included in the Appropriation Bill will be the basis on which a national economic policy suited for the global demand, will be formulated.
The President said the 2022 interim budget proposals will help change the existing economic trends.
The Head of State noted that the rebuilding of the economy through a national economic framework will begin by implementing next year’s budget.
