The government has announced that Inter-Provincial travel restrictions will be enforced strictly from midnight.
Accordingly, all inter-provincial public transportation services have been suspended.
The Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak, Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva said permission will be granted for provincial travel for only those working in the health, apparel, banking, agriculture and tourism sectors, at ports and airports and other essential service workers.
Meanwhile, Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva said the general public will not be allowed to visit public places without the vaccination card after the 15th of September.
The Army Commander said individuals should be able to confirm that they have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The decision has been taken following a meeting of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 earlier today.
