COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Minister of State of External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs of India V Muraleedharan has arrived in the island to attend the 75th Independence Day Celebrations.
State Minister of Foreign Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya received the Indian Minister of State of External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
The Ministry of External Affairs of India said in a statement, during the visit, Minister of State Muraleedharan will also have separate bilateral interactions with President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Foreign Minister Ali Sabry on matters of mutual interest.
He will also have an interactive session with prominent members of the Indian Diaspora.
The statement adds, “it may be recalled that this year also marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is India’s close neighbhour and friend and occupies a central place in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy.”
The Indian Ministry of State of External Affairs said India, as always is committed to stand with the people of Sri Lanka for their economic recovery, growth and prosperity.
