(NewsRadio); The International Monetary Fund has reaffirmed its support to Sri Lanka to overcome the economic crisis.
During a meeting with the Sri Lanka delegation headed by State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe in Washington, Managing Director of the IMF Kristalina Georgieva said the IMF is here to support Sri Lanka at this difficult time.
She also emphasized the importance of everyone working together and doing their part to tackle the crisis.
Meanwhile, State Minister Semasinghe said during the meeting he expressed gratitude to IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva for giving leadership to support Sri Lanka to overcome the difficulties faced during the economic crisis.
The State Minister noted that they reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to complete the IMF program while continuing to implement the ambitious reform agenda to achieve debt sustainability and restore economic stability.
State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe added that they reiterated the government’s desire and dedication at this historic time to build a prosperous country with the support and trust of Sri Lanka’s international partners by building on the lessons learnt from the crisis.
