The cost of living has been rising steadily in Sri Lanka since the start of the year.
The government has taken several measures including price controls to reduce the cost of living.
Despite such measures, prices of essential commodities have been increasing owing to the depreciation of the Rupee and also due to supply chain issues due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the government is expected to provide certain concessions through the upcoming budget to low-income families to tackle the soaring food prices.
