The Association of Government Medical Laboratory Technologists question the government as to why they haven’t revealed the price paid when purchasing vaccine doses.

Speaking to media President of the Association Ravi Kumudesh said they were baffled as to why the government imports the Sinopharm vaccine in large quantities instead of Pfizer or Moderna doses that have a high demand in Sri Lanka as well as internationally.

Kumudesh said, while it is very important for all Sri Lankans to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, it is also important that authorities are accountable for expenditure to bring down the doses.

He questioned the President and the Health Minister as to why the least effective vaccine is being procured for a higher price when a high demand persists for other brands of vaccines.

Ravi Kumudesh commenting on the vaccination of children, said authorities must look into completing vaccinations of students preparing to sit for government examinations.

He called on authorities to administer either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine to students sitting the Ordinary and Advanced Level Exams and are in the final year of university.
