COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Experts are of the view that taking liquids and bathing regularly could help people beat the extreme heat.
Consultant Pediatrician attached to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children Dr. Deepal Perera confirmed that there is an increased risk of skin diseases such as skin blisters among children due to prevailing hot weather.
Dr. Perera noted that many diseases including skin diseases can be cured by bathing children daily these days.
Dr. Deepal Perera said in order to prevent dehydration among children, they should be given more liquids including water and it is important to bathe children twice a day.
Dr. Perera added that due to the nature of dry weather at present, extreme heat can be felt by adults and children not only during the day but also at night.
The Department of Meteorology has also been issuing extreme heat advisories in recent days and has been requesting the public to follow its guidelines to especially safeguard the children, elderly and those suffering from various illnesses.
