COLOMBO (NewsRadio); The Department of Meteorology predicts showers or thundershowers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Northern provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts today.
The Met Department said fairly heavy showers above 75mm are likely in some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Several spells of showers are also expected elsewhere over the country.
The Met Department added strong winds about 40-45kmph can be expected at times over the island.
Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
