The Joint Health Workers’ Collective has threatened to launch a massive trade union action on Monday, if the government fails to impose a scientific lockdown tomorrow.
Speaking to NewsRadio, member of the collective Ravi Kumudesh said they staged a silent protest with the participation of few members at 10 hospitals.
He said they staged the protest since the government has failed to recognise the services rendered by health workers during the coronavirus pandemic.
Ravi Kumudesh said health workers are overwhelmed and the government has failed to acknowledge it and impose a lockdown.
He said without a scientific lockdown the number of cases and daily deaths will not come down.
Kumudesh noted they will send a 10-point document to the President today with proposals and suggestions on how a lockdown should be implemented.
He said the government should not consider the demand for a lockdown as a threat but as a strong request.
Ravi Kumudesh claimed the failure to impose a lockdown will result in further burden to health workers.
He said therefore they will have no other choice than resorting to trade union action from Monday.
