COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella has assured to solve the shortage of medicinal drugs and issues that have arisen due to the short supply within the first quarter of this year.

Speaking to media in Kandy, Health Minister Rambukwella acknowledged the short supply in drugs and attributed the shortage to a number of reasons.

The Minister said the government has taken steps to solve the issue promptly.

The Health Minister also noted that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has allocated an extended amount of funds to the Ministry of Health for this year.

He said a number of international organizations including the Asian Development Bank have also come forward to support Sri Lanka.

Minister Keheliya Rambukwella added they are also procuring required medicine through the Indian Credit Line and therefore the shortage will be addressed in a matter of weeks.

Minister Rambukwella meanwhile accused certain parties of attempting to gain political mileage through the issue and said it is unacceptable to play politics over such a sensitive subject.
