Health officials say some individuals may experience a variety of health issues including shortness of breath and fatigue post recovering from the coronavirus.

Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Respiratory Diseases Specialist of the Homagama Base Hospital Dr. Thushara Galaboda said some individuals who recovered from the virus could face psychological effects as well.

Dr. Galaboda said patients currently receiving treatment while at home do not display these difficulties adding however after the 14-day period they could encounter difficulties such as a cough, headache, chest pains, loss of appetite, loss of sleep and forgetfulness.

He however said these symptoms differ from one individual to another.

Dr. Galaboda emphasized that individuals currently receiving medication for other illnesses must not stop taking prescribed medicine if they contract the coronavirus.

He said individuals suffering from gastritis have complained of symptoms intensifying, adding it was revealed that they had stopped taking their regular medication.
