A group of heads of hospitals and polyclinics from Russia have arrived in the island on a bilateral observational tour.

A special event was organised for the group at the Ministry of Health on Monday (28).

The observational tour was organized in collaboration with the Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka, the Russian Cultural Center, and the Ministry of Health.

The visit is expected to exchange health technology and knowledge in relation to a Memorandum of Understanding based on a request by the Russian institutions around a year ago.

Accordingly the group will engage in observations visits till the 3rd of December at the Colombo National Hospital, the Family Health Bureau, the Epidemiology Unit, Medical Research Institute, several offices of Medical Officers of Health, the Apeksha Hospital, the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital and several medical and dental faculties.

The Ministry of Health said the visit is a positive opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations between Russia and Sri Lanka, to exchange knowledge and experience between medical professionals, to obtain medical technology from Russia and to experiment with scientific research.
