COLOMBO (NewsRadio); Police have decided to detain Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne alias “Harak Kata” and his accomplice Salindu Malshika Gunaratne alias “Kudu Salindu” who are wanted over organized crimes for 90 days for questioning.
Drug kingpin Nadun Chinthaka Wickramaratne alias “Harak Kata” and his accomplice “Kudu Salindu” were extradited to the country from Madagascar this morning.
A team of officers attached to the Criminal Investigation Department brought the duo from Madagascar this morning. “Harak Kata”, his accomplice “Kudu Salindu” and six others were arrested in Madagascar last month.
The group was arrested at the Ivato International Airport in Antananarivo, while attempting to leave Madagascar.
The joint operation was conducted by the National Central Bureau (NCB) of the INTERPOL, the law enforcement authorities of Madagascar and Customs officials.
Five Sri Lankan who were arrested had landed on the Nosy Be Island on a private jet on the 12th of February.
They had travelled to Antananarivo on a domestic flight the following day.
Police officers had recognized and arrested them with the help of the red notices previously issued by the INTERPOL. They were wanted on charges of drug trafficking, arms trafficking and murder.
Police said a team of officers brought the duo to the country this morning.
A 90-day detention order has been obtained to question duo by the Criminal Investigation Department.
The duo aged 32 and 27 are residents of Weligama and Panadura.
