COLOMBO (NewsRadio); A group of University lecturers has announced that they will be on strike from today to oppose the recent tax amendment by the government.

General Secretary of the Federation of University Teachers’ Association (FUTA) Rohan Laksiri said members of the union will withdraw from both academic and administrative activities.

They demand the government to retract the recent tax hike while claiming the proposal is unreasonable and unfair.

Rohan Laksiri claimed that around 40 unions will be part of their strike action in future against the recent tax increase.
