Minister Namal Rajapaksa says the government will battle the coronavirus pandemic while simultaneously carrying out development within Sri Lanka.

Issuing a statement, the Ministry said Minister Rajapaksa will monitor all large scale development projects carried out island wide together with small scale rural development programmes.

Minister Rajapaksa is of the stance that Development and Coordination within Sri Lanka must move forward and strengthen the economy, in line with the completion of the government vaccination drive.

Minister Rajapaksa said the government did not impose restrictions willingly, adding the local economic policy and the global pandemic were considered when decisions were taken.

He also added that Sri Lanka will lift current restrictions at the earliest which will help increase foreign exchange revenue, since the curb on tourism activities and many other sectors has impacted the economy.
