The Joint Teachers Service Union says the government is using quarantine regulations to suppress teacher and principal trade unions.
Speaking to media in Colombo today, General Secretary of the Union Sanjeewa Bandara said teachers and principals will not submit to the government’s suppression.
Bandara said the government is attempting to discourage protests by arresting groups protesting.
He said the government was unable to achieve their objective of attempting to create an idea that protests lead to COVID-19 clusters, as the results of the Rapid Antigen Tests conducted on the arrested individuals returned negative.
