The Ceylon Teachers Service Union has urged the government not to meddle with the examination dates of GCE Advanced Level and Ordinary Level class students.

The Union said 2021 O/L and A/L examinations are scheduled to be held in February and May 2022 respectively but now certain factions have created panic among students that the dates will be amended once again.

The Union condemned the move and has requested the government to allow teachers and students to focus on covering the syllabus and face the exam on dates announced previously.

The CTSU said the government should not take such short-sighted decisions pertaining to school education and children who are severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic during the past two years.

The Union said therefore the government should retract the decision to reschedule the GCE O/L and A/L examinations once again and conduct them on the dates announced previously.
