State Minister of Women and Child Development, Preschools & Primary Education, School Infrastructure & Education Services Piyal Nishantha De Silva says officials at the Ministry including himself are prepared for safeguarding children’s future.
Speaking to media in Hatton the State Minister said he will not allow investigations pertaining to the death of a 16-year-old girl who was employed at MP Rishad Bathiudeen’s residence to be delayed or halted.
The State Minister said children must be safeguarded adding therefore the necessary environment will be created.
He claimed several similar incidents will go unreported adding several programmes must be implemented for this purpose.
He added children at risk must be identified and instructed officials to use all reports to implement projects at grassroot level to prevent child labour.
