The JVP says it is the responsibility of the government to resolve teachers concerns promptly, including salary anomalies.
Speaking to media in Badulla, former Parliamentarian Samantha Vidyaratna said the government which came to power claiming it would solve issues faced by teachers has now forgotten their promises.
He said the present administration when coming into power claimed the salary anomalies of teachers, which have been prevalent for 24 years, will be resolved through the first budget.
Vidyaratna said teachers are still waiting for a solution while the farming community is yet to receive fertiliser promised by the government.
He said the government claimed it will reduce fuel prices, reduce prices of goods, and provide relief adding however the government has done the opposite and further burdened the public.
Vidyaratna urged the government to resolve the issues faced by the public as claimed during their election campaign and policy statement.
