Parliamentarian Gamini Lokuge has requested the government to make known its programme on privatising state institutions.
MP Lokuge said the government must inform and create awareness of a clear programme prior to carrying out any privatisation.

He said they have always opposed the privatisation of state resources, adding that given the economic situation in the country at present, certain decisions must be made.
Lokuge stated that discussions have been held between the Secretary, the Prime Minister, and himself on various occasions recently on action that should be taken in this regard.
Therefore, the MP requested the government to grant due notice and information of measures to privatise in order to protect the public and the working class.
