The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna says the present government has taken all possible measures to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus and protect the lives of all Sri Lankans.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, General Secretary of the SLPP Parliamentarian Sagara Kariyawasam said although factions claim that the next two weeks or the next month will be crucial, he is of the view that every passing day will be decisive since the country is tackling a global pandemic.
MP Kariyawasam said since last March, the country was placed under lockdown on a number of occasions but coronavirus infection rate also spiked time to time when the country was reopened.
He said the experts have now announced that the world must learn to live with COVID-19 for at least two years.
Parliamentarian Sagara Kariyawasam also noted that there is consensus that the best solution for the crisis is to continue vaccinating people.
He said accordingly, the present government has taken all possible steps to administer the vaccine to all eligible Sri Lankans.
