Expenditure Heads of Ministries of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government were passed with amendments in Parliament today.

Day two of the committee stage debate of the 2022 Budget commenced in Parliament at 10am.

Speaking during the committee stage debate in Parliament today, National People’s Power Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath said there are several unresolved issues in the state sector.

MP Herath noted that state sector workers are still facing a number of issues including matters related to promotions, salaries and pension payments.

The NPP MP said the present administration came to power promising to address the salary anomalies of state sector employees by appointing a commission.

He said two years have lapsed but the issues remain unresolved.

MP Vijitha Herath added that the state sector workers voted in numbers for the present government since it promised to provide relief to them.
