Parliamentarian Kavinda Jayawardena says the country is being controlled by black-market businessmen.
The MP said there is a shortage of many goods in the market and accused the government of disregarding such shortages.
MP Jayawardena said the government has failed to ensure the supply of essential goods with shortages of milk powder, wheat flour, gas, cement, kerosene oil, and rice having been reported at present.
He charged that under such circumstances, the government has resorted to lifting control prices as a solution to this shortage.
He said through such a move, black-market operators are granted leeway to determine prices of goods and in turn earn profits.
The Parliamentarian charged that the economy is being managed by such groups.
