State Minister Janaka Wakkumbura says the government is formulating a plan to provide chemical fertiliser required for tea plantations in adequate quantities, via a licensing agreement.
The State Minister assured the programme will commence in the near future.
He revealed that authorities will seek the opinion of the Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka and plantation trade unions over necessary quantities of chemical fertiliser, in order to avoid wastage.
However the State Minister said the government will grant concessions and promote only organic fertiliser in future.
