The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the government has brought Sri Lanka towards harms way during the past one and a half years.
Speaking to media in Colombo today, SJB MP Mujibur Rahuman commented on the risk of a scarcity in goods within the coming days, due to failed economic policies of the present administration.
The MP said restricting imports would create a scarcity within Sri Lanka for essential items which would drive up prices. He added the government has let businessmen create an artificial scarcity for goods.
MP Mujibur Rahuman said the government came to power promising prosperity, but is now heading into a recession after imposing unexplainable restrictions on certain items.
The Parliamentarian commenting on State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal being appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka said many cases of fraud that occurred during his previous tenure were reported in Parliament via reports of the Committee on Public Enterprise.
Therefore he claimed the country would fall economically if such an individual is re-appointed as the Central Bank Governor.
