The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the increase in gas prices shows the government’s failure, incompetency and mismanagement.
Responding to a question raised by media during a media briefing today pertaining to the government’s decision to increase gas prices, Parliamentarian Nalin Bandara Jayamaha said the price of gas was increased and the quantity of gas decreased with the public left unaware.
MP Jayamaha said citizens are queuing up and are unable to purchase a domestic gas cylinder for even Rs.10,000.
When questioned by media over a possible No-Confidence Motion against those responsible, the Parliamentarian said there are many No-Confidence Motions to be tabled adding the public have lost faith in the government.
He said an election must be held once the COVID-19 pandemic subsides to gauge the public’s faith in the administration.
MP Jayamaha said apart from a gas and fuel shortage, a shortage of essential items and locally produced fruits and vegetables will also occur in future.
